2005 in review
updated by rck, 2005-12-31

2005 was a very eventful year. Looking back, a couple of things happend that I didn't even think of earlier. I met people who are very important in my life, I created tools that are valueable to people, things went just fine.

I'd like to thank each and every visitor of this very site for his/her ongoing support and would like to review 2005 in this short article.

Typo3 and Hackers

Later on, I wrote one of the most visited articles on my website until now. Comparing TYPO3 with phpWebSite had more than 16 thousand (!) page visits until now and made Robert Kennedy volunteer for proof-reading here. Searching for the roots of phpWebSite, I also did an interview with Francisco Burzi. He is the one behind phpNuke, which phpWebSite is based upon.

The Comparing TYPO3 with phpWebSite article didn't only get Robert Kennedy into my boat, I also got a lot of inquiries. One of them from Arnab Bhattacharya, the Packt publishings Web Marketing Executive. Until now, he sent me 3 books from Packt for reviewing, the first was about Typo3 Enterprise Content Management.

Not too long afterwards, Outlaw Group payed me a visit and hacked my site. During a big redo of kiesler.at (with the LifeLine theme as a frontend), I completely rewrote the input-parser of my phpWebSite installation. Let's hope this one is a bit safer...

Looking back

Last but not least, Wayne from Japan, who also sent me the Cli cradle, brought up an interesting topic. Where could one try out all the free themes for phpWebSite? We didn't know of a place in the phpWSforums, so I created one. The new theme tryout site was a huge success, people enjoy trying out all the various free phpWebSite themes there are.

2005 was a wonderful year. Most things for me happend in private, hidden from public. I got a new, wonderful job with nice colleagues. I found joy in dancing again and have two lovely dancing partners. And I got to know a lot of interesting and nice people in 2005.

I'm looking forward to 2006 and would be looking forward to reading from you in my forums also.

Best wishes!
